The Zip HydroTap Compact2
The Zip HydroTap Compact2 is the most advanced boiling and chilled water system for residential use today. Initially it might seem a bit pricey, but if you think about it, instant boiling or chilled water is an awesome feature. No more waiting for the kettle to boil, no more opening and closing of the refrigerator causing the milk to go off. This tap will be one of the most used items in the house, and that is what makes it so useful and effective. If something is expensive, and you use it often, and it makes you more productive, it is worth it.
Let’s look closer at all the advantages and features of the Zip HydroTap Compact2:
- Instant boiling and chilled filtered water from the one tap giving back valuable bench space by eliminating the need for kettles, jugs and unsightly power cords.
- Super compact design with internal filter fits most residential under-sink installations where lack of space can be a problem.
- Press the red (boiling) or blue (chilled) lever to fill cups and glasses. Pull forward the levers for hands-free continuous flow to fill pots and carafes.
- When activated, the child safety lock requires adult finger/thumb operation to dispense boiling water.
- Hot-water-isolation’ provides an additional level of safety to the ‘Safety Lock’.
- Meets relevant plumbing and electrical standards.
- Power-Pulse™ energy saving technology allows the system to self-regulate power usage for changing demands.
- Hibernation mode allows the system to totally power-down after 2 hours of non-use.
- Sleeps-when-inactive allows the system to partially power-down after 2 hours of non-use, but still maintain stored ‘boiling’ water at 64ºC.
- Programmable 24/7 timer allows pre-set ‘power on and off’ periods (once-a-day).
- Boiling and Chilled water tank temperatures can be individually adjusted to suit personal requirements.
The capability of filtering water to the nano-scale is one of the Zip HydroTap Compact2’s best features. It removes impurities smaller than one thousandth of a millimetre, including Crypto sporidium and Giardia. Reduces dirt, rust, asbestos fibres and other suspended impurities. It also removes chlorine plus other tastes and odours to leave water crystal clear and odourless. It reduces common lime scale build up inside the tank, although in some areas some pre-treatment is required.
Simple installation of the Zip HydroTap Compact2
Plumbing
Must be installed by a qualified plumber in accordance with instructions supplied with the product and with South African plumbing regulations. Water supply must be potable (drinkable), and deliver at least 2 litres per minute at a minimum dynamic pressure of 70kPa. If static pressure exceeds 600kPa, a pressure reducing valve must be fitted. An isolating valve must be installed between the water supply and the under-sink system. The under-sink system must be located directly beneath the tap – max up to 1000mm away. Under-sink tubing must be taut for proper drainage – and never be looped or coiled.
Electrical
Plugged to a 15amp GPO within 1000mm. Power supply – 220V to 240V AC 50/60Hz. nstall in accordance with South African safety regulations.
Ventilation
The under-sink system must be installed with ventilation clearances 50mm left and right, 220mm above and 65mm rear. The cupboard containing the under-sink system must be amply ventilated. Buffers supplied must be fitted to the inside of cupboard doors to prevent flush closure, creating an undetectable 4mm airspace around each door.
Filtration
Sub-micron – standard
Sub-micron filtration is standard and has the added benefit of removing micro-organisms such as Cryptosporidium and Giardia. Not suitable for areas with excessively high levels of sediment in the water supply as this may require the filter to be changed more frequently than practical. In such areas, a five-micron filter may be substituted
Five-micron – optional
The five-micron filter gives great tasting water because it removes general contaminants and sediment, plus chlorine taste and odour, but will not filter out parasites such as Cryptosporidium and Giardia.
