Solid glass splashbacks is not a new idea, it has been used for decades in Europe, especially in the UK. Solid Glass splashbacks sometimes also named back splash or glass cladding. Technology has changed a little in the last decades. We no longer use standard glass since that is too dangerous. All the solid glass splashbacks are toughened, this is a must especially when using behind you stove. I have heard so many cases where un-toughened glass has cracked due to heat stress. Toughened glass can tolerate temperatures of up to 300°C for 30 minutes, so it can handle any temperature behind your stove. The second important component that has improved it the treatment of the paint. yes we can use any Plascon or Dulux colour, but they are all treated with an additive so that it bonds with the glass. The paint used is not from Plascon or Dulux, it is an automotive paint with a catalyst. This ensures that the paint does not lose its colour (10 year warranty) or start to ripple. I have seen some applications where builders or DIY home owners tried to save on cost and attached the glass with silicon, only to find the silicon dissolve the paint within a couple of months. Untreated paint cannot be applied to glass without it coming loose (or detatch) itself over time.

A very helpful blog. I love the idea of how they design the kitchen splashback. Great Job!
